Hi, My daughter, now age 15, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 3. I almost lost her that night as the doctors told me that about brain swelling due to ketoacidosis and that she may not make it. My heart sank. My mother was there with me and as we cried together, I said "Mom, I don't know what to do, I am so scared". She gave me the best piece of advice I have ever had. She said "Children are not born with instructions,just pretend that she was just born".
